![]() ![]() Another thing is max for live: it's an interesting thing, but some devices aren't compatible with the 64-bit version of ableton live (the Opfour Synth, one of the free classic synths package). this is a bug that exists since the version 8 and in version 9 it isn't fixed anymore (I told it to the support but they didn't want to fix it before other more urgent bugs). One simple example is if you create a lot of drum rack tracks in the scene view, you mostly get a click or tick noise when triggering another scene. ![]() I only use Ableton Live, but I can tell you about some problems if you use it in some maybe unusual ways. If you're after a straight forward approach to doing most of the things you want to do, Live seems like a good fit. TL DR: What do you value the most in the process of creating music? Convenience, or control? If you're after control over every aspect of everything from any angle, stick with FL. You're in luck because you can just get the VST versions of things like Maximus, Vocodex, Sytrus, and Harmor which are respectively the best at what they do, and use them in Live. Which also means some things that are simpler to do in other DAWs are not so simple in FL as a result. So, you're a user that would value convenience over control.įL, from what I can tell, gives you the most control out of all the major DAWs. In another post here you mention how you like Ableton's "mastering" setup with everything being on the same screen, meaning you don't have to run around different windows to get the same stuff as you would in FL. FL's strength is in two places: Its built in plugins, and it's ability to do absolutely anything anyone can think of provided you can figure out how to do it. If you're on a PC (which I'm assuming you are since you're an FL user) then you're kind of in luck.
